Nokia 230, Nokia 230 Dual SIM selfie-focused feature phones launched
Microsoft Corporation has recently launched a new Nokia phone named Nokia 230.
Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia in 2014 was not only met with criticism but it also led many people to believe, given the future phones the company was planning to release, that the company would exclusively focus on high-end smartphones from now on powered by Windows OS.
Another feature of the device that would appeal to users is the touchscreen, which is present alongside the physical buttons. As announced on their website, the handsets possess two strong points, one of them being battery life, the second one being its camera. The Nokia 230 has the same numbered key layout as standard Nokia devices, and Microsoft is marketing it as the ideal tool for taking selfies.
When Microsoft bought out Nokia’s phone business in 2014, it was assumed by many that Redmond would focus on low-cost phones under the Microsoft branding. Despite looking like a throwback to mobile phones from a decade ago, the phone is Internet capable and has a front-facing camera with an LED flash for taking really good selfies. The aluminum cover matches the main color option that results in a slicker look than its predecessor Nokia phones.
Digital Trends detailed that the handset runs on the Nokia Series 30+ operating system. It also comes with a microSD card slot, allowing you to expand the storage capacity with up to 32 GB. With a 1,200mAh battery, the company claims that the single-SIM version can work up to27 days, while, the dual-SIM version has 22 days of standby.
The Nokia 230 and a dual SIM variant go on sale in December in India, Asia and the Middle East, with other markets to follow in 2016. It includes FM radio, Facebook, Twitter, Opera Mini, MSN Weather and few other apps.
Gamers might be pleased to learn the smartphones come with Open Store access in select markets, with the ability to download one free Gameloft game every month for one year.
