Cowboys QB Tony Romo Out For Season
Romo’s injury added insult to injury as they were dominated by the Panthers who feasted off of turnovers.
On his one good shoulder.
Tony Romo directs the Cowboys offense in happier times.
Not that it mattered.
It was a scene Dallas Cowboys have seen far too often: Quarterback Tony Romo flat on his back awaiting medical attention.
Coach Jason Garrett wouldn’t rule out Romo returning this season, and said he would play if he was cleared even with the Cowboys unlikely to have a realistic shot to defend their division title.
Already, some interesting names have been mentioned as a possible quarterback acquisition for Dallas.
But that’s the prospect the Cowboys face as they head into December.
The injury was eerily similar to the one in Week 2 against Philadelphia.
“He’s a special player”, said Davis, the other half of Carolina’s dynamic linebacking duo.
That will come Friday. They are about to get four days off, they are 11-0 and they have never played as well as a franchise for this kind of extended period.
Thursday, Thanksgiving disguised itself as Halloween even before Romo took what’s likely his final shellacking of the season. And so did the bookmakers. Panther WR Jerricho Cotchery had five catches for a game-high 73 yards, and four of them converted third downs.
As for Dallas, the Cowboys were no road block and really not much of a speed bump. The Cowboys managed to escape the Dolphins a week earlier in Miami despite two Romo interceptions.
Through 11 Weeks of the National Football League season, three teams have separated themselves as the class of the NFL.
Then Romo went down again. And, boy, did he have some doozies.
The Cowboys quarterback threw three interceptions, including two pick-sixs, in a disastrous first half against the Carolina Panthers.
Still a little winded from his previous interception, Kuechly was chased down at the Dallas 29-yard line after a 17-yard return. Dallas’s record sat at just 3-7 after the victory, but that still was enough to keep hope alive in the downtrodden NFC East. There was a genuine belief coming out of Week 11 that Romo’s return gave them enough to leapfrog Philadelphia, Washington and NY in the long run-three teams that mostly had squandered opportunities to pull away when Romo was sidelined. “When I let our team down, our coaches, our fan base – everybody – I have to live with that”. This team has shown an inability to win without Romo plus an inability to win when he doesn’t bring his A-game. Their remaining schedule includes two games against the fading Atlanta Falcons, plus the New Orleans Saints, the New York Giants, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“We have the X-ray, but we need more than that, but he certainly hurt his shoulder”, Dallas owner Jerry Jones said. This was supposed to be a huge test, on a short week against a confident team.
“Kurt just made a great cutback and was able to put it in the end zone”.
