Ben Carson tops GOP presidential race in Colorado, new poll finds
It’s a time of hope and reflection, but also a time for getting serious about the important political decisions we’re all facing in 2016.
We’ve seen the ups and downs and even a few withdrawals from the race. Your Pants-On-Fire rating of Trump’s claim, which is pretty much an incitement to violence, will fall on deaf ears, for it simply confirms the worldview of too many Americans. But there are signs that could be changing. While more than half say shaking up Washington is their main goal, only 4 percent say “electability” matters to them. And one of those things is this: Intra-party personal hatred is much more visceral than inter-party personal hatred. There’s a mutual respect between them for sure, but there can only be one victor.
Until we’re willing to explore why, when given the choice between the hatemonger and Hillary Clinton, some 44 percent of the USA electorate think a President Trump would be a pretty good idea, “our progress to degeneracy”, to borrow Lincoln’s term, throttles into overdrive.
Carson tops Iowa poll, but is it an outlier?
“My Islamic values align with the Republican Party platform: the pro-life, pro-traditional family values, pro-trade, pro-business policies that Islam really encourages”, said Asma Hasan, a lawyer and longtime Republican. Ted Cruz has surged to second place in the latest Iowa poll.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows that Trump is the Republican presidential front-runner in the early voting state, with 25% support among GOP voters likely to participate in Iowa’s February 1 caucuses. “Marco Rubio continues to lead the GOP pack on Pivit with nearly 50 percent”.
Rubio and Cruz both believe that if they can somehow end up as the last man standing against Trump, it’s a cinch they’ll be the nominee.
In fact, the terrorist attacks in Paris have only strengthened Trump’s position. Add the fact that the results of this particular poll skew widely from others in the same time period and it brings up several issues.
To win 13 percent of the black vote, Carson will have to win over voters like Tim Green, a 31-year-old African-American who attended a Carson rally in Mobile.
Still, the numbers offer an interesting contrast to national polls that show Carson and Trump deadlocked in a GOP race with more than a dozen candidates.
Martin O’Malley, the former governor of Maryland, got the question next. Targeting the “liberal media” and the “secular progressive movement” was a strategy that clearly resonated among his supporters. “[He] is now hurt after a renewed interest after Paris because he clearly doesn’t know anything about foreign policy”.
“Let’s be clear here: By making such horrendous suggestions, Trump is generating fear and advocating hatred and violence against Muslims”.
One of the great things about Ben is his lack of polish in the political sense, but there’s little doubt he needs to avoid these types of mistakes if he’s going to remain viable going forward. Take it with a grain of salt.
Some conservative Republican groups have started to call Donald Trump a “fascist” and they think that the businessman will be an easy target for Democrats if he wins the Republican nomination.
Horn’s actions represent a new low by the party establishment, as it goes after Trump.
With that in mind, Team Clinton privately has been slapping high fives after every new Trump outrage. Capitalizing on fear and the considerable ignorance about the Muslim faith among many of our citizens, they are in a rush to the bottom, driving a stampede of prejudicial proposals.
And while that message may be tempered compared to that of Trump and Carson, Cruz’s efforts to paint himself as the electable outsider haven’t won over some of his critics.
And then there’s the “his rhetoric will turn voters off” line of argument. The Texan, a Tea Party favorite, made use of a couple of opportunities to rip his rival’s positions in recent days, opposing Trump’s proposal to set up a registry of Muslim Americans and criticizing the mogul’s controversial comments on immigration, which have been perceived as anti-Mexican by many in the Latino community, Bloomberg noted. Trump leads nationwide polls of GOP voters.
