Curry leads unbeaten Warriors to 14-0
Curry had a quiet 40 points, if that’s even a real thing, but it was his presence on the court that forced the Clippers defense into compromised positions. It was Golden State’s 14th win without a loss, one short of the best season start first established by the Washington Capitols of 1948-49 and equaled by the Houston Rockets in the 1993-94. The Mavericks led 92-87 when Williams hit his fourth three-pointer of the game.
“No matter how bad we’re playing, we always feel like we have a shot”, said Curry, who also pulled down 11 rebounds.
After the game, Clippers forward Blake Griffin was asked about the Warriors-Clippers rivalry, and gave reporters a surprisingly honest answer. “They have the upper hand”.
On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors will bring a 14-0 record into the Pepsi Center.
Curry put the Warriors back ahead for good with his sixth 3-pointer, and Iguodala tossed an inbound pass to Draymond Green for a layup. The Warriors are looking for their 15th straight win and inch closer to making history. Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Jimmy Butler had 28 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a losing effort for Chicago (8-4).
The Warriors got off to an inauspicious start as Curry committed two fouls in the first two minutes of the game. They threatened to break the game open a couple of times.
Paul, meanwhile, couldn’t be stopped in the first quarter.
Pelicans 104, Spurs 90: Anthony Davis had 20 points and 18 rebounds in his return from a sore shoulder, and New Orleans beat San Antonio for its second victory of the season. Paul Pierce followed Paul’s 3 from the left corner with one of his own that stretched the Clippers’ lead to 112-102 in their last scoring burst of the game. The Clippers played the game without starting shooting guard J.J. Redick, who was out while recovering from back spasms, but they had little trouble generating offense. Sacramento’s Rajon Rondo had a season-high 18 assists, 14 points and nine rebounds after having three triple-doubles in his previous four games.
And in the end, the Warriors won, 124-117, and extended their record to 13-0. “If we’ve got a chance to do it, why not?” It was the club’s second straight allowing an opponent to hit at least 50 percent.
Russell Westbrook led Oklahoma City with 34 points, but the NBA’s No. 3 scorer made just 11 of 29 shots and went 2 of 10 on 3-pointers.
Curry, despite missing eight of his 11 3-point attempts, had 27 points to lead the Warriors, who improved to 8-0 at home this season and 26-0 in regular-season games since the Bulls’ last visit.
The Clippers know all about Golden State’s never-say-die attitude after squandering comfortable leads against them to lose both of their games against them this season, but Thursday’s comeback by the Warriors left them stunned.
