Gamecocks receiver Pharoh Cooper leaving after junior season for NFL
Junior linebacker Skai Moore said, following Tuesday night’s practice that he has not made a decision on whether or not to make the same move as Cooper.
The 5-11, 207-pounder from Havelock, N.C. has caught 62 passes for 887 yards and seven touchdowns.
“He wants to ride the wave at its high point”, said Glen Cooper, who added his son did not want to risk potential injury by returning for his senior season.
“He definitely appreciates the opportunity to play for SC, and we as parents appreciate the opportunity they gave him”, Glen Cooper told the paper. He’s listed as the No. 7 receiver in the 2016 class by CBSSports.com and some other recruiting services.
He also has a rushing and a passing touchdown to his credit.
Pharoh Cooper has certainly been the high point of the entire Gamecocks team in 2015.
Cooper’s current output ranks eighth in school history and he needs 113 yards against Clemson to join Gaffney’s Rice as the only Gamecocks with multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Cooper could be taken in the second or third round, if he tests well at the NFL Combine.
