AMAs: Jennifer Lopez Opens American Music Awards With Dance Medley

From Jennifer Lopez‘s multiple outfit changes to Justin Bieber making it rain on stage, the American Music Awards 2015 was far from boring.

Earlier in the evening, the boy band accepted Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group, marking the third consecutive time the British boy band scooped up the award. Jared Leto, who introduced Dion, said his band 30 Seconds to Mars recently performed at the Bataclan, the Paris concert hall where 89 people were killed in the November 13 attack.

Before the show, it was announced Dion would be performing Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à L’Amour” in French in honor of the victims of the Paris attacks.

The Weeknd’s performance was also a favorite, and he walked away with two awards, and presented the first one from Prince. “France matters, Russian Federation matters, Syria matters, Mali matters, the Middle East matters, the United States matters, the entire world matters and peace is possible”.

The Fave Rap/Hip Hop Artist, as well as the Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Abum, went to Nicki Minaj.

We couldn’t let the day pass without commenting on the annual hot mess parade affectionately titled the American Music Awards.

Or maybe not. But social media was abuzz when Jennifer Lopez took the stage to sing and dance along to a medley of this year’s biggest hits, including Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda”.

The singer isn’t afraid to make a statement, and she did just that when she showed up looking like Ursula with this wild octopus dress. The cape is totally regal, or maybe I should say “fairy-tale-esque”.

A cappella group Pentatonix performed an awesome rendition of the “Star Wars” theme song with a full orchestra in the background.

Ariana Grande beat both Swift and Trainor to be named favourite pop/rock female artist.

He was reportedly reunited with his ex-girlfriend Gomez two days prior to their performances at the ceremony, when he had reportedly serenaded the 23-year-old with Sorry and The Temptations’ My Girl at a hotel bar in Beverly Hills.
