People Are Shot At Site Of Black Lives Matter Protest In Minneapolis

Minneapolis police arrested a 23-year-old white man in Bloomington around noon.
Court documents indicate a suspect called an old high school friend who is a Mankato police officer and confessed to shooting five people at a protest against the killing of a black man by Minneapolis police.
Two more men both white, ages 26 and 21 turned themselves in Tuesday afternoon. But some people who claimed they saw the shooting claimed the 24-year-old was handcuffed.
The activists said groups of men had been appearing at the demonstration and “acting shady” since Friday, so they put together a “safety committee” to watch for potential agitators and escort them away from the protests.

Kyle Loven, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Minneapolis, said on Tuesday the FBI was aware of the incident, was coordinating with Minneapolis police and would determine whether federal action was appropriate.
Police in Minneapolis say they have arrested a second man in the overnight shootings of five Black Lives Matters protesters.
At least one member of Clark’s family asked Tuesday for the protests to end. “[I came out] because of the overwhelming feeling of injustice, sadness and my responsibility to take part and say ‘that’s not OK, ‘” she said.
Three were brought to North Memorial in a private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries and two were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
A group of activists who surrounded the shooting victims were sprayed with mace by police, who arrived on the scene about 20 minutes after the shooting occurred, according to The New York Times.

A major driver in the protest is a demand that investigators release videos taken at the Clark shooting scene. “We debate whether they’re white supremacist or not because one of them got a Black Lives Matter sign”.
“The Minneapolis Urban League joins the family’s appeal for “a day of peace and mourning for Jamar Clark”, a statement from the Urban League said”.
Clark’s brother, Eddie Sutton, said in a statement that in light of the shootings, his family believed the demonstrations at the police station should end “out of imminent concern for the safety of the occupiers”. An officer opened fire on Clark after a struggle broke out between them, according to the Associated Press.
“We will not be intimidated”, the page read.
Then, Wronksi-Riley said, gunshots were heard, and two young Black men on either side of him were hit, one in the back and leg, the other in the arm.
Protesters who have been camped outside a Minneapolis police precinct for more than a week since the fatal shooting of a black man say they will not leave.
On Tuesday, a Black Lives Matter spokesperson said the violence directed at protesters only strengthens the occupation.
