Gas prices have little effect on holiday travel
“Lower gas prices this year make it more affordable for people to travel for Thanksgiving”, said Don Lindsey, Tennessee public affairs director for AAA.
Experts say some Americans might avoid mass transit altogether this year, opting to save some cash. “That’s indicative of the economy and lower gas prices”. “Lower prices are helping boost disposable income, and enabling families to kick off the holiday season with a Thanksgiving getaway”, Doney added. Higher consumer confidence and lower gas prices mean more people are traveling. AAA says only 1.4 million will take trips by bus, train or cruise ship.
