Forte, Jeffery active for Thursday nightcap
The Bears and Packers meet on Thanksgiving night.
Alshon Jeffery said Tuesday that he wants to play, and if he’s feeling good enough on Thursday then he’ll be out there.
This will be the second matchup between the two NFC North rivals this season as Green Bay beat the Bears 31-23 in the season home opener at Soldier Field. As you probably know, the Bears opened a 21-day practice window for White Tuesday, meaning they have three weeks to decide whether to put him on the active roster or season-ending injured reserve.
Receiver Eddie Royal (knee) and tight end Martellus Bennett (ribs) were already declared out.
Despite missing so much time, Jeffery leads the Bears in receiving yards.
But while Forte fantasy owners may be metaphorically chomping at the bit to get the veteran running back back in their lineups, it might be more prudent to hit the pause button on that.
As for the questionable tag, the Bears have six players listed there.
The Bears star wide receiver has missed five games this season with a plethora of injuries including hamstring, groin, and shoulder issues. Also, linebacker DeMarcus Ware is inactive for the third time this season as he deals with a back injury.
White was expected to make an immediate impact on a Bears’ offense looking for a major playmaker in a new era of the franchise under general manager Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox. At least Bears fans will be able to remember Forte for who he is: one of the best to wear orange and blue at Soldier Field.
Forte has not played since injuring his MCL on November 1. They are going to need this help as the Packers have been a very impressive defense at home this year.
Rookie Jeremy Langford performed yeoman’s work with Forte out, averaging 122 scrimmage yards while scoring four touchdowns.
