Newegg Unveils Black Friday Deals for Canadian Customers

Any items below $100 were discounted by 35 per cent on Boxing Day and only 27 per cent on Black Friday. Asda is scaling back on the frenzy involved with Black Friday, but is still in favor of providing customers with savings by spreading it over reduced prices on food, drinks and electronics. All sales for Black Friday should reach £1.39bn and for the entire week-end including Cyber Monday, over £3.5bn.

Both Shiau and LeBlanc say the retail cycle has been accelerated, and the increasing popularity of online shopping has created more competition. The study showed that the large majority of shoppers (85 per cent) preferred to shop online, and this year about one-third of them (34 per cent) said they will choose a Canadian retailer to make their online purchases this season. “It was kind of a tipping point year, where there was a critical mass of retailers that operate in Canada, participating in the black Friday and Cyber Monday events”.

Store managers, of course, have other tricks up their sleeves to make Black Friday profitable.

Yet, despite the attempts at obfuscation, Black Friday shoppers still tend to come out ahead.
