Klopp: Sturridge needs to learn what serious pain is
It’s likely that Klopp was seeing red after his goalkeeper Simon Mignolet’s latest gaffe in the recent match against Bordeaux.
Jurgen Klopp says Daniel Sturridge must “adapt” to Liverpool’s new intensity, and distinguish what “serious pain” to what is “only pain”.
“If you think back to last season, he has only been able to play these three games since, one against Aston Villa when he scored two goals, and two others”.
Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp, has expressed satisfaction with his side after progressing to the Europa League knock out stage with a 2-1 victory over French Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux on Thursday night.
It was all good news for Sturridge a couple of days ago when Klopp declared that Sturridge was close to a comeback.
– Liverpool have won 11 and lost none of their 14 league meetings with the Swans at Anfield, scoring an average of 3.3 goals per match and netting four or more in nine of those games. “Everybody wants him back on the pitch but we all have to learn the situation”, Klopp told reporters ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against an out-of-sorts Swansea City. “But of course we know the world is not flawless so we have to try the best and quickest way”.
“At this moment I can not say more, we have to wait for the results”.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Swansea City could be “ripped to shreds” by Liverpool on Sunday if they start the game in the same manner as they did when beat Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
“I can not think of this like you because I have not been here that long”, he began. He’s always at the door, saying: ‘Give me 10 minutes, give me five minutes.’ I like this, but it’s not always the best thing to do.
“Everything we do is 120 per cent so you need to be prepared for this. When in that shape we can use him”, he continued. It’s what I said a few weeks ago – if Daniel comes back, we have to train him. It’s good for both of us that I’m here, I like players like this, he likes playing like this.
