Coli spurs Taylor Farms celery recall
The Celery and Onion Diced Blend tested by the state of Montana was used in a Costco Rotisserie Chicken Salad that has been linked to a multi-state E. coli.
In the Chipotle case, the CDC has said that evidence suggests an ingredient or “common meal item” is to blame.
Mr. Wilson said in his statement: “This is wonderful news”. They really liked and ate the rotisserie chicken salad. The retailer has a single supplier of the vegetables it uses in its chicken salads sold throughout at all USA stores.
Health officials reported that they have identified the source of an E.Coli outbreak in Costco stores in Washington State.
He says one additional test is needed to confirm that the vegetables carried the same E. coli strain connected with the outbreak.
Nineteen people in seven states have been sickened.
For information on products at other stores affected by the Taylor Farms Pacific Inc. recall, see the FDA website, www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm474601.htm.
One of the strains of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli causes can also cause death, but up till now, no deaths have been reported.
Those incidents include a listeria outbreak last April that killed three at a Kansas hospital where Blue Bell ice cream was served, and another outbreak in 2011 linked to Colorado cantaloupe, which killed 30 people.
Wednesday the amount of people sickened in the outbreak will probably grow during the the next couple of weeks, although the merchandise was removed from shop shelves, the CDC said.
Anyone who has eaten the product and starts to feel ill has been urged to call their doctor.
Symptoms of HUS usually set in on the eighth day of an E. coli infection.
