Syracuse wins in Battle 4 Atlantis final

The Orange defeated Texas A&M 74-67 to claim the Atlantis championship. Big triples from Gbinije and Lydon down the stretch helped the Orange while a Cooney 5-0 run proved to be the icing on the cake as the Aggies never got back within seven.

CT advances to play Syracuse in Thursday’s semifinals.

The Wolverines flirted with a comeback, but Hamilton drilled the dagger from three-point range with less than 90 seconds remaining to put the Huskies up by 11. Danuel House was the only other Aggies payer to reach double figures with 15 points. Tyler Davis and Admon Gilder each chipped in with eight points.

The Orange will now return home to the Dome for their matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers on December 2nd.

It’s early in the season to worry about such things, of course, but on many levels t his would have been a great one for UConn to get.

The setting, the weather and the time of year may have been all wrong for the UConn-Syracuse game, but when the old Big East rivals met in the Bahamas on Thanksgiving Day, they produced an old-time thriller.
