Chicago Bears knock off Packers in Green Bay

Standout quarterbacks of the Green Bay Packers’ past and present gathered at Lambeau Field for a special Thanksgiving night celebration.

This loss was no different than those to the Broncos, the Panthers and the Lions that have come in the past month – the Packers simply have no synchronized passing game.

Play-calling under associate head coach Tom Clements has been a lightning rod for criticism during the recent skid, but head coach Mike McCarthy championed the need for better execution when reviewing the breakdowns on Friday morning. Perhaps persuaded by the debacle in the NFC title game last season, McCarthy finally made the move, handing over the play sheet to top assistant Tom Clements. “So much is made of scheme. At the end of the day it’s about running your route or defending your route or blocking your guy or getting off the block, making the tackle and getting to the ball”.

“When you have a chance to get your hands on the football, you’ve got to take advantage of it”, McCarthy said. “I lost feeling in my hand for a good portion of the game there in the third quarter, fourth quarter”, Rodgers said.

It was a wet night at Lambeau Field. Opposing defenses approach the Packers offense much differently with Lacy in the backfield, opening up more opportunities in the passing game as a result.

“We define ourselves by the groups that we are part of”, said UW-Green Bay professor of psychology, Regan A.R. Gurung.

“Obviously we’re running out of time here”, said right guard T.J. Lang after the game. “It’s the attention and the details. Just win the route or win the play called”.

Fox kept them from dwelling on the assignment’s difficulty by pointing out how his Denver team had even less time when it played a Sunday night game with San Francisco and turned around to play San Diego on a Thursday night but won both games.

The player many though might be shipped out of Chicago came once again with heavy pressure on Rodgers and almost got the sack, yet the quarterback somehow got the ball out. The 7-4 Green Bay Packers are struggling to find their identity in 2015.

-RUSHING OFFENSE: C-minus. Center Hroniss Grasu suffered through a horrendous game. My coaches always said that a team that keeps getting hit with so many penalties is an undisciplined team. While slot receiver Randall Cobb had a big game with six catches for 74 yards, Davante Adams caught two of 11 passes for 14 yards, with one of his two drops being a potential touchdown in the first quarter. Cutler was 19-of-31 for 200 yards and a touchdown. But Lacy also fumbled, which led to one of the Bears (5-6) two touchdowns on the night.

And cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted Rodgers’ pass with 3:19 left at the Bears 45 on the Packers’ previous drive.
