Tony Romo reinjured his shoulder and is likely out for the season
Coleman eluded the Dallas offensive players in pursuit, crossing the field for a pick-six that gave Carolina a 7-0 lead with 14:15 remaining in the first quarter.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, re-injured his left collarbone in the team’s game versus the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.
Dallas (3-8) were 0-7 with Romo out of the lineup. The dual-threat star showed off a new celebration after catching grief in recent weeks for doing “the dab”.
“If you’re not motivated to find a way to win, then you need to get off the team”, linebacker Sean Lee said afterward. “Back in the day, they used to do the twist”. It would also allow the Cowboys to see if they have a legitimate back-up to Romo who capable of winning games, as the Cowboys have not won a game without Romo since 2010. But he said he would await more test results Friday before knowing whether he could return.
Even before the calendar turns to December, the Cowboys’ playoff hopes have been dashed despite playing in the dreary NFC East Division, in which the four teams have a combined 16-26 record.
Luke Kuechly intercepted two straight passes by Romo late in the second quarter, returning the first 32 yards for a touchdown.
Romo struggled in his second game back from injury as he completed just eight of 17 passes for 82 yards and the three interceptions in the first half. “I’m disappointed I let my teammates down and the fan base down. That’s what I did today, and I have to live with that”. He was injured in Week 2 at Philadelphia and said the injury had a similar feel this time.
Expect head coach Jason Garrett to establish a strong ground game with Cassel in at quarterback, as he will look to alleviate pressure on the backup quarterback. That is exactly what came out of the oven when a sack landed Romo on his left shoulder in a almost identical position as the one in September.
“Yes, ” Kelly said simply when asked if defensive coordinator Billy Davis would stay put after giving up 45 points in consecutive games, not to mention 10 touchdown passes and no interceptions in a five-day span. The Eagles haven’t forced a turnover in three games.
“If Tony’s ready to play”, Garrett said after the 33-14 loss to the Panthers, “he’s going to play”. I still believe – and obviously the doctors will stand by that, and Tony felt good about it – we feel that he did the right thing.
However, if Jerry Jones signs Tim Tebow, every fan in the National Football League will want to watch the rest of the Cowboys games this season, not just the fans of “America’s Team”.
In an update, ESPN’s Ed Werder noted that Romo will miss the entire season since his recovered collarbone only lasted for two games.
Matt Cassel took over for Romo on Thursday after the starter left with the injury.
