Seattle Seahawks Disappointing This Season

Welcome to another edition of Coordinators Comments.

On Sunday, the Steelers visit Seattle and Brown and Bryant will be matched up against the Seahawks’ celebrated Legion of Boom secondary.

It’ll be a familiar challenge confronting the defense when the Steelers resume play on Sunday afternoon in Seattle. But what they do have is the full attention of the Steelers offensive line and offensive coaching staff. During that time, opponents have gained an average of 85.0 rushing yards against this intimidating group. Roethlisberger is averaging 315 yards per game, including one game he did not finish because of an injury and another that he did not start due to an injury.

TRAILING AROUND: Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman has followed the likes of A.J. Green, Torrey Smith and Dez Bryant this season.

“He’s not the first mobile guy we’ve faced this year. We were glad that didn’t happen again”. “I’m just making sure I got everything right and making sure that, you know, I’m following all the right rules”.

Cam Newton doesn’t have that total package and Colin Kaepernick does not either. The two connected on just three of eight passes for 59 yards last week against the Chicago Bears. DeCastro dealt with it when the Cardinal would occasionally fly east and he’s dealt with it when the Steelers head in the other direction, with uneven at best results.

What he got right: The game victor.

“In order to go down this stretch and do what we need to do to get into the playoffs we have to make sure we keep getting turnovers, keep getting sacks, keep stopping the run”.

“Jeremy’s going to be active”, Carroll said.

In the NFC West, San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick and St. Louis Rams starter Nick Foles have been banged to the sidelines, triggering the Case Keenum spectacle that played out Sunday. Of course, it helps that two of those four games came against the hapless San Francisco 49ers, resulting in two double-digit wins for Seattle. On the ground, DeAngelo Williams had 54 yards in 17 attempts.

And Seahawks quarterbacks coach Carl Smith was the QB when Butler was playing linebacker at the University of Memphis.

Butler told Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review he’s very excited return to Seattle.

But Sunday will still be more about the circumstances than the setting. They were a middling 2-2 in those games. The good news is the defensive backs have shown a knack for intercepting passes and forcing fumbles.

“There’s a lot of ways to do it, to win a world championship”. Now the Steelers have the tough task of going to Cincinnati to try and split the season series.

What does that front four mean to that (Seattle) defense and their overall success?

Jones, one of the top receivers in the National Football League, is on pace for 142 receptions and over 1,900 yards on the year.

But Roethlisberger explained: “I’m a big outdoorsman, so obviously (there’s) great fishing up there”, he said, also elaborating on the region’s appeal to indoorsmen. But as soon as Big Ben returned from his first injury, the Steelers lost the best running back in the game, Le’Veon Bell, for the season. So for us it’s just being aware of where everybody is. “We have our work cut out for us”.

“When I talk about rushing smart, I’m talking about having an understanding that what you do individually affects the men and creates potential vertical holes that would allow a guy like him to escape”. The reason why I called him was because I was trying to get his favorite recipe for hot wings, (he is a bit cannibalistic) but he would have none of it.
