Arsenal midfielder Coquelin out for three months
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny feels Alexis Sanchez is almost unstoppable with the ball at his feet following the Chile international’s double in Tuesday’s 3-0 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb.
Arsenal have been tipped to win the title this season but a barrage of injuries to key players has stunted their title challenge.
The Gunners recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, meaning they now head to face Olympiacos in Athens in a fortnight with progression to the knockout rounds in their own hands.
“If we create chances, play our game and put them under pressure, we have a chance to score our goals in the game and make the difference we need”, the former Chelsea goalkeeper said. A bargain for us is to buy players of top quality, because only top quality strengthens our squad.
Coquelin is facing up to three months on the sidelines with a knee injury sustained in the 2-1 defeat at West Brom last weekend, while Mikel Arteta is expected to miss around a month with a calf injury picked up in the same game.
Having to do with the Europa League if they cannot win by a two goal margin at Olympiakos, the Gunners’ task is tough but our resident Gooners here in the tavern think they can do the business – if they don’t suffer any more debilitating injuries!
“So I have to be honest and say that I would like the kid and Olympiakos to go on, and we know that [group winners] Bayern Munich go through for sure”.
“It will be like a play-off game because the head-to-head counts and we have things to catch up with”, Cech said on his website, as third-placed Arsenal trail the Greek side by three points in Group F with one match to play. “I think I can but now it is my job to prove it. Fitness is hard to maintain”, he added. They were good on the counter-attack.
“We are in a position where we want to do something”, Arsene Wenger said regarding the transfer window.
Sanchez has already made 23 appearances for club and country this season and Wenger has been asked week-in and week-out whether he is planning to rest the Chilean to avoid him burning out before the end of the season. When they go, they go.
