Week after week Bindi has surpassed the expectations of both the judges and the audiences with her innovative and well-executed performances. As good as the other dancers were throughout this season of Dancing with the Stars, Bindi was undoubtedly the most deserving to win as she glided across the dance floor and into people’s hearts.
“Thank you so much for everything, I can’t believe that I’m here and just thank you for changing my life”, an ecstatic Irwin Tweeted after the win.
Predictable as the 17-year-old’s mirror ball victory was, it was only right.
“I have tried to just remember his strength knowing that dad is kind of still with me”. “Thank you so much for everything”.
The third place finalist was Alek Skarlatos, who was partnered with Lindsay Arnold.
It was a touching moment when this year’s winners were crowned at the conclusion of Dancing With the Stars season 21 this year.
Last month, she made an emotional tribute to her hero on the show, explaining publicly for the first time how his death had affected her as a young girl.
Irwin and her partner, Derek Hough, danced to Leona Lewis’ “Footprints in the Sand“.
“For me, this whole experience has meant the world, for my whole family”, Irwin said to Entertainment Tonight after leaving the stage. Carter came in second followed by Skarlatos.
“Her personal story of triumph over tragedy was an inspiration to viewers and even served as a sentimental narrative to some of her performances”, said Rice.
