Russia Claims Turkey’s Erdogan Requested To Meet Vladimir Putin Hours After
Erdogan said it was not the first time Russian jets had breached Turkish air space and that he had warned Putin about “ugly incidents” after two incursions in October.
ANKARA, Turkey (AP) – Turkey has released audio recordings of what it says are the Turkish military’s warnings to the pilot of the Russian plane that was shot down at the border with Syria.
The Turkish embassy in Moscow was vandalized by unidentified perpetrators on Wednesday in apparent retaliation, a local news website reported.
Russia has also made a decision to suspend its visa-free arrangement with Turkey, Russia’s foreign minister said. Russian Federation hopes to keep Assad in power, while Turkey-along with the US and E.U.-believes he should step aside. Putin and Hollande stated Russian Federation and France would coordinate on targeting ISIS fuel trucks transporting oil, where the Islamic State obtains most of its revenue.
He said: “Erdogan claims that a Russian aircraft entered Turkey’s airspace for a few seconds, forgetting that its own planes violate Iraqi and Syrian airspace every day”.
Speaking to his supporters in northeast Turkey, Erdogan said he “would like to meet [Putin] face to face in Paris”, during the upcoming climate meet. Putin said Turkey’s actions strained the relations between the two countries.
“You’re paying big attention and putting a lot of efforts into the creation of a broad anti-terrorist coalition”, TASS quoted Putin as saying at the start of his meeting with his French counterpart Francois Hollande Hollande in the Kremlin on Thursday.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said the sanctions will include “restrictions and bans on Turkish economic structures operating in Russian territory, restrictions and bans on deliveries of products, including foodstuffs”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has denounced the attack as a “treacherous stab in the back”, while asserting that the plane was shot down in Syrian airspace.
“We today agreed to intensify our joint work on the anti-terrorist track, to improve the exchange of information in the fight with terrorism, establish constructive work between our military specialists”, Mr Putin said. That incident took place near the Syrian border where Russian Federation and coalition forces are conducting airstrikes against ISIL. The other pilot was rescued by Russian and Syrian special forces.
