It’s Unbelievable How Many Albums Adele Has Already Sold In Australia

The Britpop band, fronted by Liam and Noel Gallagher, shifted 696,000 copies of their third album, Be Here Now, in its debut chart week in August 1997. Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S, thus it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week. Adele thinks the same when she announced that 25 would not be available for streaming upon its release.

We need to wait first before we realize that Adele’s 25 is yet to match the sales of her last album 21, which is possessed by 4.8 million people in the UK.

The 27-year-old singer, who won an Oscar for Skyfall, the soundtrack to the Bond film of the same name, announced earlier this week that she would tour Europe next year, with rumours that she may headline Glastonbury.

Adele’s decision to pull her new album from Spotify for limiting her album from its free tier has helped her boost sales for her new CD albums.

Adele kept 25 off streaming sites because she did the same for her previous albums, but she is open to making it available in the future.

His bandmate Bass took to social media to offer his thoughts, adding, “We officially say Bye Bye Bye as @Adele says Hello to the World Record of Most Albums Sold In a Single Week”.

In the US, Nielsen Music said that in just four days the British singer broke the record previously set by ‘N Sync in 2000.

The latter – which went on to become the fourth-biggest selling album in the United Kingdom ever – sold 208,000 in its first week.

Adele’s third studio album is already the biggest selling album of 2015.

In fact, no album had sold 100,000 copies in a single week this year compared to Adele’s 800,307, which has reached double platinum status already. It instantly became a viral hit and worldwide phenomenon when the single was released.

That means Adele surpassed the aesthetically-pleasing figure with a day of sales to spare in 25’s opening chart week.

Billboard reports it will have the final numbers on Sunday November 29 for the week closing on Thursday November 26, but for now it’s confirmed that she’s shattered all previous first week sales records.
