Leicester City v Manchester United Premier League: How will Manchester United
Manchester United are set to be without Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard for their top-of-the-table clash against Leicester City this weekend, with the former sidelined through injury while the latter is believed to have picked up a hamstring problem.
Where will Leicester City finish in the Premier League table this season?
If his performance against United previous year is anything to go by, he will have little trouble rewriting the history books. “At this moment, he doesn’t play in the striker’s position, Martial is playing there”, he said.
Speaking about Jones and Herrera, Van Gaal said: “I don’t think it is weeks, but I think within two weeks one of the two can come back”. In previous years this match was one the United would take for granted but this time around they will know that Vardy and his teammates will cause them trouble.
“He’s been brilliant, it’s fantastic to score that many goals for a team but especially a team like Leicester, who a year ago secured their safety in the last few games”, he told MUTV.
“Normally this kind of club can be a long time competing but normally at the end it is more hard”, he said.
Though they may now be sitting top of the pile, Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has played down fanciful talk of the club actually winning the Premier League.
The Leicester manager also labelled Wenger “a joker” as he downplayed his side’s chances of lifting the Premier League trophy in May.
“Thank you to Arsene but he’s a joker”.
“The league is very odd and open but our goal is 40 point”.
“There were a lot of good clubs coming in for me, but once Brighton were mentioned I was on my way”. Smalling has been the Premier League’s best defender by some distance this season although United’s back-two did look a little disjointed on Wednesday. Vardy, 28, equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of netting in 10 straight games and he could break it at the King Power stadium.
“He was already last season a very nasty player for us”, Van Gaal said of Vardy. Players of his age need to play and I can imagine that fans are saying that this is ridiculous, they have difficulties to score, but that is a short-term thought. The Dutchman drew parallels between Vardy and Arsenal great Dennis Bergkamp, who played under Van Gaal at Ajax. “It’s not so easy to do that”.
