Stores ready for Small Business Saturday
While Black Friday wraps up, our local stores are gearing up for Small Business Saturday tomorrow.
“If everyone shops local it keeps everyone they know in the community”, Carter said.
This is the sixth annual Small Business Saturday observance, which was started by American Express as a day dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
If the trend continues, 2015’s Small Business Saturday is going to be even bigger.
Rachel Levey told 22News, “It’s important to support your community”.
The National Retail Federation has been reporting a decline in Black Friday sales in recent years.
Clothing, jewelry, flower shops and more all within a few blocks makes it easy for shoppers to get everything they need.
“Personal service. You’ll still be able to find someone to help you find something you’re looking for”.
While empty storefronts may make up much of the downtown area, business owners hope today’s event is a boost for Freeport’s economy.
“What’s nice about Small Business Saturday is that it’s not a mad rush”, said Dryden. Doing so helps to fuel the economy but also supports our friends and neighbors who own or are employed by these businesses.
Local store owners told 13News Now they’re ready to showcase what they have to offer on a day where it’s all about spending local.
Many shoppers in Charlottesville say they prefer to spend their holiday money locally.
Razorz Edge, another local shop on 4th Avenue has been open for nine years. With years of experience, Perkins says the best way to be a successful small business owner is to talk to people along with utilizing the resources around you.
