Romo’s season over after re-injury to collarbone
The glow from Sunday’s win against the didn’t last very long for the.
Expectations were high for the Dallas Cowboys going into the season.
Starting quarterback Tony Romo will be out the remainder of the season after suffering a hairline fracture in his clavicle during the loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thanksgiving.
“The hard part is playing when you’re trying not to get hurt, which is silly”, Romo said after he threw three interceptions and Carolina returned two of them for touchdowns before the injury. “I’m actually numb today”. They won? So they’re undefeated. “They’re going to provide a great challenge”.
Romo was in his second game back after the Cowboys (3-8) lost seven consecutive without him.
Tony Romo’s season is in jeopardy after he re-injured his left collarbone in Thursday’s 33-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
In just the fourth start of his career, Romo beat the 9-0 at Texas Stadium on November 19, 2006. Quarterback Cam Newton threw for 183 yards on 16-of-27 passing, and rushed for his seventh touchdown of the season. In all of the interceptions, Romo was to blame, not reading the coverage and throwing passes that should never have been attempted. It was a nice game, but Dallas needs to capitalize better when it comes to hitting the quarterback and forcing turnovers, especially when their offense plays so bad. The Saints were 13-0. He picked off Romo and took it to the house for a 32-yard touchdown!
Expect head coach Jason Garrett to establish a strong ground game with Cassel in at quarterback, as he will look to alleviate pressure on the backup quarterback. “What Dez needs is repetition, practice repetitions, in-game repetitions, that’ll make him a better player for the future”.
“If you’re not motivated to find a way to win, then you need to get off the team”, linebacker Sean Lee said afterward. This one is coming fast. “When we show up and stop the runs we’ve been preparing for all week, it’s pretty fun to go out there and see the same stuff you’ve been seeing all week”.
A win Thursday might seem as unlikely to some as those wins against the Colts and Saints were.
“The Panthers have jumped every obstacle in their path, though, including this “three-games-in-12-days” grouping”, Fowler wrote. They lead the National Football League with 25 takeaways.
Stafford connected with Riddick on an eight-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter, but the Eagles drew level in the opening minute of the second quarter as quarterback Mark Sanchez found tight end Brent Celek for a two-yard score. The Panthers will watch the rest of the weekend still knowing they’re the only unbeaten team in the conference.
Romo, who played in just two complete games this season, threw five touchdowns and seven interceptions in four games.
