Shop local on Small Business Saturday
The Black Friday bargains might be coming to a close but the holiday deals will still continue for small businesses.
The small retail store owners are optimistic about the effort of Saturday Special time for shopping at smaller retail stores.
“It makes people aware of all of the small businesses in town and how much we do for the city”.
It was well known that the day after Thanksgiving was the biggest shopping day of the year for chain retailers, but locally owned businesses said they needed support, too.
“I think for every community across the US, driving business to smaller businesses is a great thing”, said Schnee’s president Curt Smith.
“We have more fun than any of the big box stores”, Valarie Johnston a worker at Marilyn Jackson’s gifts said.
The end of incentives has left some shoppers upset, but retailers are still preparing for the day in full force, with more than half of American shoppers aware of it. It also provides free marketing materials to small businesses.
One analyst said that most consumers would still shop and be willing to pay slightly more in small businesses even though they would benefit from a statement credit from American Express.
SnS Skateshop owner Daniel Diswood said his store will emphasize independent music artists on the shopping holiday.
