Amazon to offer Black Friday deals every 5 minutes beginning this week

Although online mobile shopping is certainly beginning to dominate in ecommerce as a whole, retailers are more than aware that offering deals around the clock is vital throughout the holiday season.

People who want to give clothing as gifts or to upgrade their wardrobes before the holidays should take advantage of the deep discounts available on Thanksgiving.

Hardcore deal-hunters will hit the shops in droves on Thanksgiving evening and into the wee hours of Black Friday morning with their sights set on scoring the hottest deals offered by retailers across the US.

“Walmart is also offering deals on tires and wireless phones, maps of all the deals in its stores and wristbands for certain high-demand products such as a 55” smart HDTV and an RCA Tablet.

With stores in recent years using Thanksgiving Day as an extended Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving no longer seems to have the same hype.

“Frankly, it surprised me that there were so many that were opening early over the last couple of years”, O’Shea said.

Black Friday used to be the day when none of the retailers held sales, Peterson said.

Beard said she thinks careful shoppers could probably get similar deals throughout the year without having to go out in the Black Friday ordeal and that she just does her holiday shopping on other days.

NPD’s Cohen said retailers have little choice but to offer online discounts that match their in-store sales. “However, retailers have already given consumers several good reasons to start their holiday shopping early”. Also, always ask about restocking fees, and save your receipts in one place so you don’t lose them. “Everything will really start to pick up on Wednesday with Black Friday pricing”. This will change next week, when most Americans decide to engage in Black Friday deal hunting.

Still, like most of you, I’ll be doing a few shopping next weekend. Promotions have started in November, while online shoppers will get free shipping and returns until December 25. So far it isn’t looking too bad, which is hopefully a good sign. The store will close at 1 a.m. and reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday with more doorbusters.

Walmart will be open regular business hours except for Thanksgiving Day and have extended hours on Black Friday.

K-Mart, however, is not only opening at 6 a.m., it is being criticized for failing to notify its employees whether they will have to work on the busy holiday.
