Steele added that past year $131.000 was raised in Clarksville for the Salvation Army and the goal for this holiday season is $200,000.
For more than twenty years, the Salvation Army of Salt Lake has made it possible for shut-ins to share in the joy of Thanksgiving.
The thief told the bell ringers that he was there to pick up the kettles early because of the cold weather.
Last year, volunteers served almost 325 meals and expected about the same turnout this year.
But this year, for the first time, families in need can come in and have a real shopping experience, at the toy centre providing a sense of dignity and hope during tough times.
Jermaine Miller just couldn’t get enough of the Thanksgiving feast he was served Wednesday afternoon.
“The volunteers knocked on the doors of more than 750 shut-ins this Thanksgiving morning”.
Lutcher says he’s so thankful for the many volunteers who helped put this event together.
Volunteers will begin serving at 11 a.m. or you can have your meal delivered to your house by calling 782-4470.
“We would love to be able to have this go one for longer and serve more people”.
“They’re homeless, they’re struggling, they’re trying to get from where they are now back into homes, apartments, back into productive society”, said Todd Smith, the Area Commander of the Salvation Army for the Greater Knoxville Area.
