Chicago Bulls vs. Golden State Warriors
The Nuggets had some trouble with another team that likes to go small when they squandered a 17-point lead in a 114-107 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
The Warriors came back from a 23-point deficit to beat rivals Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center 124-117 on Thursday.
At the moment, the Warriors are at 13-0 and there have been many talks about the team reaching the heights that the Bulls did with Michael Jordan when they had a 72-10 season. “Telling me to make plays”.
When I went to bed last night, the Los Angeles Clippers were beating the Warriors 62-47. Golden State may be 23rd in the league with 15.8, but they also force 15.8 turnovers per game because, well … they’re the champs.
Jimmy Butler had 28 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a losing effort for Chicago (8-4).
Klay Thompson scored 25, Harrison Barnes had 21 and Draymond Green contributed 19 for the Warriors, who closed on a 22-5 run in the big turnaround.
The Clippers regained the lead for the last time 115-112 on a Jamal Crawford 3-pointer before Curry had his sixth from behind the arc and added four free throws in another 9-0 run to seal the thriller.
The Warriors would regroup in the second quarter and end up taking a 50-47 lead into the locker room at the half.
Ryan Anderson hit six three-pointers and scored 30 points for the second straight game.
Now, Curry and the Golden State Warriors are right on the cusp of adding another accomplishment in an incredible year.
“We battled them the whole game”, Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said.
After a slow start left them trailing by as many as 23 points.
The Bulls, despite playing without Derrick Rose and Aaron Brooks, were too for long stretches, mucking the game up, playing physically, limiting the Warriors’ runouts. After the teams traded misses, Curry scored on a driving layup for a five-point lead.
That lineup outscored the Bulls by nine points over the final 3:58 of the game.
Curry poured in 40 points to lead the charge and hit six 3-pointers. G Leandro Barbosa returned from the flu a night earlier and Livingston played for the first time in three games after being sidelined with a strained left hip flexor.
Russell Westbrook led Oklahoma City with 34 points, but the NBA’s No. 3 scorer made just 11 of 29 shots and went 2 of 10 on 3-pointers. Similar to their game on Wednesday, the Bulls picked up the pace on offense against a good defensive team in the Golden State Warriors. Valanciunas had three points in 18 minutes.
