Providence upsets No. 11 Arizona 69-65 in Wooden Legacy
Members of Arizona sit on the bench in the closing seconds of the second half of an NCAA college basketball game at the Wooden Legacy tournament, Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, in Fullerton, Calif. Providence won 69-65. He finished with 19 points and Ben Bentil scored a career-high 21 points despite foul trouble. Ryan Anderson leads eh Wildcats averaging 17 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. His efforts were followed up by that of Gabe York who had 10 points, providing the Cats with a secondary option to Anderson’s scoring touch.
Arizona would have one last possession but it would end with a Ben Bentil steal and outlet pass to a streaking Dunn who would end the game with a dunk.
“Kris had a very hard-fought night”.
Arizona took a 34-33 lead after a first half in which there were 13 lead changes, with neither team leading by more than four points, and the teams took turns opening up slightly bigger leads early in the second half.
The Wildcats played without Tarczewski because of a sprained left ankle he worsened Thursday against Santa Clara.
Arizona: The last time the Wildcats played the Friars, Arizona won 96-92 in OT to advance to the 1997 Final Four. The Wildcats beat Kentucky to win the national title that year…. The ball went through the hoop and hit a player’s head underneath, popping the ball straight back up through the hoop. You can’t blame the officials, they went on their gut but that should be a reviewable deal. “We haven’t experienced that in a long, long time”. Boise State is 4-0 against the spread following a loss, 4-1 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games against the Pac-12. That means the Friars will face No. 3 Michigan State in the tournament championship game, 10 p.m. ET (ESPN2) on Sunday at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
