BU Quarterback Jarrett Stidham Out For The Season
Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham suffered a broken ankle against Oklahoma State and is out for the rest of the regular season. The Bears must beat TCU and Texas and also need help from No. 11 Oklahoma State (10-1, 7-1) in its game against No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday.
Baylor third string quarterback Chris Johnson will start on Friday against 19th ranked TCU. A Baylor spokesman confirmed the injury. So I don’t have to do anything spectacular or special. But the final two games of Baylor’s regular-season slate will be in the hands of Johnson and whoever Briles taps as an emergency quarterback behind him.
Johnson threw two touchdown passes and ran for a fourth TD in the second half in Baylor’s 45-35 victory against Oklahoma State.
Even with Stidham taking over the past three games after Russell was the top-rated FBS passer in his seven starts, Baylor still has the nation’s top offense (54 points and 644 yards a game). Then someone rolled up on his lower right leg before halftime, and coach Art Briles has since mentioned the fibula as being the issue. Stidham will finish with 1,265 passing yards and 12 touchdowns on his season. He moved to wide receiver before the season but returned to playing quarterback after Baylor lost Seth Russell to a season-ending neck injury last month.
