Falcons’ Freeman ruled out against Vikings with concussion
The Falcons did the expected on Friday afternoon and ruled running back Devonta Freeman out for Sunday’s game against the Vikings. Barring something unexpected, Tevin Coleman is in store for the lion’s share of touches out of the backfield Sunday. Making matters worse is that there’s a fabulous matchup at hand against a Colts defense that has allowed 12 touchdowns to opposing running backs in 2015.
Well, it looks like the concussion will be keeping Freeman out of the Falcons’ upcoming game. Rookie Tevin Coleman will serve as the feature back and be a solid RB2 if Freeman is inactive on Sunday.
Head coach Dan Quinn relayed Monday that Freeman had already received clearance to attend meetings, but Wednesday’s development indicates otherwise.
Atlanta is looking to end their three game losing streak this weekend and are trying to keep themselves in playoff contention. I would consider Freeman unlikely to play on Sunday just based on the time it generally takes for a player to come through the protocol.
