Kings fall to undefeated Warriors
The Warriors set a new franchise record with 22 3-pointers.
The Los Angeles Lakers hold the all-time record of 33 straight wins, set during the 1971-72 season.
“I’m a big fan”, said Curry. “We love the feeling of winning”.
With the game out of reach, Curry did not play in the fourth quarter for a third consecutive game.
Curry, the reigning NBA MVP, made a season-high nine 3-pointers and added eight assists and six rebounds.
Green finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. And Barbosa enjoyed a solid night of shooting, going 8-9 from the floor as he scored 21 points for the team.
The Warriors’ 2012 draft might’ve been the most successful draft by any team over the past five years, as they found three rotation pieces and some depth among their four picks. “They shoot 3s like layups”. He cut to catch dump-off passes from a driving Bledsoe, scored in transition and stepped behind the three-point line to shoot 2-of-3 from deep.
National Basketball Association (NBA) action returned after a break for Thanksgiving, but the symmetry between the Golden State Warriors and the Philadephia 76ers remained intact. “They start blending together after a while”. Tyson Chandler did not return after leaving the game in the first quarter with a strained right hamstring. “We would like to still get the ball inside and move it side to side”. They had a 75-point first half and led by as many as 20 points.
The young forward became a necessity as Suns coach Jeff Hornacek attempted to solve matchup problems against Golden State. “We didn’t do that. Their shots were pretty wide open”. Rather than focus on his own hot shooting night, Curry emphasized the team’s ball movement, crediting that teamwork over his own undeniable ability to drain shots off the dribble. Curry is on fire this season, he got great teammates.
“We shoot a lot of threes, but we like to shoot a lot of good ones”, said Curry, whose team shot a season-high 57.9 percent from beyond the arc. Only three teams have longer consecutive game winning streaks and the way this season has gone, that record could fall too.
The Warriors kept hitting from long range and the last of Curry’s five first-quarter 3s put Golden State up 39-19.
It’s worth mostly noting only the first half because the game was over at that point. “So we shoot a lot of them, but hopefully we shoot a lot of good ones that lead to high percentage”.
The Kings played competitively in the first quarter and seemed in it at halftime, but they unraveled in the third quarter and couldn’t recover in a 120-101 loss to the undefeated Warriors at Oracle Arena.
It wasn’t all positive Friday, as the Warriors starting small forward Harrison Barnes sprained his left ankle in the third quarter.
But this is still a young team we’re talking about, and at the very least, Walton deserves credit for sticking true to the system and not running it into the ground. It will be the last home game for the Warriors before they embark on a two week cross country road trip on Monday.
