Donald Trump offers helicopter rides to ‘beautiful’ children at Florida
Ellis and Davis have communicated about the planned protest and plans for security.
“Don’t hurt the person”.
The calm handling of the disruption was a change from last Saturday’s campaign rally in Alabama, where a Black Lives Matter protestor was punched and kicked repeatedly by audience members when he interrupted the rally. Trump said 6,000 people were present though Smith put the number at 2,000.
Trump has been among the most vocal of the candidates in raising skepticism about Muslims living in the United States. “He knows all the ins and outs of negotiating”, said Clearwater resident Bob Priest, standing in line near a live elephant painted with Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
And Trump found ways to tailor his message to the room. “There’s a religious undercurrent here, aside from foreign policy issues”, said John Green, director of the Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at the University of Akron, convinced that the recent GOP rhetoric on Muslims has to do with all kinds of reasons. Former Florida Governor and early party favorite Jeb Bush is stuck at just seven percent.
He criticized Rubio, Florida’s junior senator, as “weak” on illegal immigration and said his constituents should be angry with him because Rubio has missed so many Senate votes. “I mean … the seat isn’t even warm and he’s running for another office, and he ‘s not going to win”.
Frank Luntz, a Republican strategist who has organized focus groups of Trump supporters, said his support comes from how he articulates his message.
“I disagree with Bush, he’s a nice person, he’s trying to be tough right now, but you can’t act, you have to be tough”, Trump opined.
Sixteen-year-old Joshua Wolff of Sarasota joined the protesters even though his father is a Trump supporter.
“I don’t think we have had anyone with such a high level of feelings both for and against in the past, and that brings a little bit different perspective to this visit”, he said.
Reuters described the possible reasons Trump’s lead had slipped. Cruz declared, “I’m a big fan of Donald Trump’s, but I’m not a fan of government registries”.
Davis said deputies will help escort Trump to and from the event and with directing traffic.
It all took a nasty turn after the Paris attacks, where 130 people were killed. When asked if hearing Trump say he’ll “bomb the sh*t our of ISIS”, is too simplistic an answer to the problem of how to deal with the latest edition of Middle East terrorism, Gross disagreed.
“We just feel this guy is bad news”, he said.
Trump’s event was emblematic of his campaign so far.
More than 4,500 supporters filled Robarts Arena, and hundreds if not thousands more lined the streets outside in an nearly circus-like atmosphere.
While those outside listened to audio of his speech, children were given helicopter rides.
“I gave tens and tens of millions of dollars to [help people with disabilities…] The New York Times owes me an apology”, Trump said. Trump has denied mocking the scribe’s physical disability.
After Kovaleski came forward saying the reports were never verified, Trump went after him. Donald Trump tries to find the distance for himself from appearing to have mocked the reporter. “I think he is unconventional and people are always looking for something that is not predictable”.
Trump arrived and departed in style, flying in on his own helicopter. He cited what he called the news organization’s business woes.
“The New York Times is in huge financial difficulty”, Trump said Saturday. “You know, he wants to get tough”. And he broadened his criticism.
“Worldwide, the Muslims were absolutely going wild”, the real-estate mogul said at a campaign rally in Sarasota, Fla.
But on the weekend rally in Sarasota, Florida, Trump took it a step additional.
