Black Friday brawl at Florence Mall

Two shoppers exchanged blows and wrestled each other to the ground in the middle of a crowded shopping centre in Kentucky on Thanksgiving evening, November 26. Then the deals continue with another unofficial shopping holiday: Cyber Monday for online deals.

The YouTube poster didn’t want to identify themselves because “I don want 2b fired, but I work at this store in saginaw [Michigan] and this lady stole a veggie steamer from a KID on black friday!”.

Twitter user NSudenga posted a short video and by Friday afternoon, the video had been retweeted nearly 600 times.

This year, it appeared that some mall-goers may have been filming fights in order to be featured on, say, the WorldStarHiphop site.

National Retail Federation President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Shay similarly called the holiday “a marathon, not a sprint” in a statement Friday morning, adding that retailers have many more opportunities this holiday to boost sales.

This mall in Florence, Kentucky was ready to open their doors and offer some of these deals to the masses.

Marshall Parenteau said he is so organized because he has had a lot of practice. “It’s also for fun, to see if there’s anything new and cheap”.

“We’re pretty excited. We had people lined up outside right before 6 a.m. waiting for the doors to open”. “I actually got food in the auto, so it’s like we switch”, said Davy Gibson. “We’ve got some jewelry that we sold out of”.

The Boots flagship store on Sedley Place, central London, was one of a handful of shops which opened extra early, advertising deals on huge posters by the shop entrance. A quiet scene at the Walmart on Dowlen Road in Beaumont before the sun came up and more of the same over at the mall.

“Back home our deals are not as good as here”, said shopper Anthony Jordan.

USA Today was reporting people spent about $1 billion already – that’s up more than 20 percent compared to last Thanksgiving. “I’m here for the 65-inch this year, $699”, said Rocha.

BrandsMart will remain open until 2 a.m. and will reopen several hours later.
