Calling all volunteers. Salvation Army Bell Ringers are needed at Kimball’s Main Street Market from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. every Friday and Saturday beginning Friday, Dec. 4 and ending Dec. 19.

While many East Texans got the chance to gather around a dinner table in a warm home with a hot meal for Thanksgiving, everyone didn’t have this luxury.
“I did twelve turkeys, and I did three trays of stuffing, and I did three mashed potatoes, and I did three sweet potatoes and they had broccoli and they had cranberry sauce and they had rolls”, said cook Lena Reyes.
In 2014, The Salvation Army served more than 117,000 Wake County citizens through its various programs. “Have that time of sitting around the table that we typically will enjoy at the different holidays”.
Sister Muir says, “The holidays are family oriented, I think.
We open it up for people that don’t have a family to go to for Thanksgiving and we invite all people to come be apart of the family of the Salvation Army”, said Redmond.
Midland Salvation Army Corps Officer, Major Tex Ellis, “A lot of the folks we see on Thanksgiving, we see on a regular basis”.
Ana Graves, a mother of four who got a free Thanksgiving meal said “I’m ever so grateful”.
And they also wanted to celebrate kids as “vital change managers” in our communities.
That’s the kind of Thanksgiving meal that happened Wednesday at the Salvation Army in Cedar Rapids.
