Trump Demands New York Times Apologize for Saying He Mocked Reporter
GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said that he “does not have time to be politically correct” when speaking of his mocking ridicule of New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski in a speech in Sarasota, Fla. last week. Like expected, he claimed that he did nothing like this, as he just wanted to criticize his journalism. Other accounts from that time concluded the allegations were unfounded.
Donald Trump managed made fun of a New York Times reporter with a muscular disorder.
The irony is that Donald Trump used the same article when he tried to justify one of his previous claims regarding this topic.
But in interviews this week, Mr Kovaleski said he and other journalists never found evidence of the “thousands and thousands” of people that Mr Trump has claimed were celebrating the attacks.
But Kovaleski said he’s spent plenty of time with Trump, covering the business mogul when he worked at The News.
“You oughta see this guy – ‘uh, I don’t know what I said, uh, I don’t remember, ‘” Trump said at a rally on Tuesday, while flailing his arms. Mimicking the involuntary gestures associated with arthrogryposis (a congenital condition affecting joint movement) Trump disgustingly demonstrated everything wrong with his campaign in a single eight-second media moment. Uhh I don’t remember.
Trump’s campaign on Saturday also announced the endorsement of Kathryn “Kat” Gates-Skipper, the first female Marine in combat operations.
Torrie, Keith Serge Kovaleski said he closely covered Trump’s launch of an airline in 1989. “So now this person is going around saying I did know him, that he reported on me in the 1980s. All in all, I would say around a dozen times, I’ve interacted with him as a reporter while I was at The Daily News”.
Trump during his berating appeared as if he mocked the physical condition of Kovaleski. I never said that.
Kovaleski isn’t buying Trump’s reheated excuses one bit, telling the Washington Post that he’s sure Trump remembers him and his disability, both due to their numerous interactions in the past, and the fact Trump referred to him as a “nice reporter” and “poor guy”. “Maybe that’s what I said”, Trump said. “If I did know, I would definitely not say anything about his appearance”.
Rather than attempt to downplay the incident and let it blow over through the holidays Trump doubled down on his comments and demanded an apology from the NY Times for running to the defense of their journalist. It said that Kovaleski spent the day with Trump inaugurating the flight.
