Assam government allowed in illegal immigrants from Bangladesh: Amit Shah
“If you want a developed Assam and respite from illegal migration from Bangladesh, rampant corruption, misgovernance, choose the BJP and reject Congress in the next Assembly election”.
Shah pledged that a BJP government in Assam would be committed to improve the dismal power scenario, grossly inefficient healthcare system, directionless education scenario, alarming unemployment problem and solve the burning problem of infiltration by illegal migrants from Bangladesh. Shah, who arrived here on Friday morning, accused the Congress of entering a “tacit understanding” with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), and dared Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to talk openly with AIUDF chief Maulana Badaruddin Ajmal rather than have a secret understanding.
Taking cues from the Bihar defeat, he asked the party cadres to go on a door-to-door campaign explaining the alleged corruption of the Congress government in the state and the work the Modi government has done in Assam and rest of the North-East since voted to power in 2014.
Addressing a huge rally of its workers in Dibrugarh with BJP National President Amit Shah, the Union Minister said, “Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who once asked who Badruddin was is now offering him the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Assam in order to get AIUDF’s help in the coming election”. Apart from raising emotive issues, the BJP president also tried to project his party-led government at the Centre as pro-development. “Only a BJP government can ensure all these”, he said.
He also referred to the ongoing Naga peace talks and the recent extradition of United Liberation Front of Asom general secretary Anup Chetia from Bangladesh.
The APCC president also took potshots at BJP national president Amit Shah and the State leadership, accusing them of misleading the people of Assam and not identifying with the ground reality and the cause of the people of Assam. “We know the necessity for a secured border for Assam”. The party said the state Congress president’s “wild charge is a classic example of bankruptcy of thought”. “My sources said the BJP has offered to pay over Rs 1 crore to the AIUDF against every constituency for the said deal”, Dutta told reporters here this afternoon.
