WADA suspended Russian Anti-Doping Agency for non-compliance
The IAAF have provisionally suspended the ARAF from global competition over claims of state-sponsored doping revealed in a shocking report by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commission.
It was announced the suspension will not be lifted until the governing body’s anti-doping inspection team completes its investigation and report, which is not expected before late March.
IAAF president Seb Coe commented: “The verification criteria must be robust otherwise the inspection process will fail”.
The World Anti-Doping Agency continued to crack down on Russian Federation drug cheats on Wednesday by suspending the country’s anti-doping agency amid calls to extend investigations to other countries and sports. “Repeating past failings which have brought Araf to their current position is not an option”.

It said the WADA-accredited laboratory destroyed 1,417 samples shortly before an inspection.
Russian officials have set out a three-month plan to clean up the sport and ensure that their athletes are able to compete in Brazil. The IAAF outlined five principles by which their return to competition would be judged.
“In overcoming them, they will also need to show the world that testing is going on during the period of restructure so the athletes in Russian Federation can not get a get out of jail free card”.
He said: “For the protection of all clean athletes there can not be any time frame for ARAF’s (All-Russia Athletics Federation) return until we are assured all criteria have been met and will continue to be met forever”.
The measures include punishment of athletes, coaches and officials found to be involved in doping, and a request for the Russian government to criminalize the distribution and trafficking of performance-enhancing drugs.
Anti-Doping Committee of Israel chairman Shaul Schreiber said he was surprised that Israel was among six signatories declared as non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA ) Foundation Board on Wednesday and promised to rectify the situation immediately.
