Jimmy Graham carted off field with right knee injury in Seattle
Well, after four catches and 75 yards on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Graham had to leave the game with a knee injury.
The undrafted wide receiver out of Stanford got wide open for the first touchdown of the game against a susceptible Steelers secondary, giving the Seattle Seahawks a 7-3 lead.
As the Steeler Nation knows well, the team rides on the arm of Ben Roethlisberger, but I do not think there was a single person who believed that he would throw for more yards than any quarterback against the Seahawks in team history.
Pittsburgh (6-4) will have Ben Roethlisberger back in the lineup for the first time since Week 9. Roethlisberger headed to the locker room with just less than two minutes left in the game and Landry Jones took over under center.
Tight end Heath Miller also exited the game in the first half with a rib injury but is expected to return to action. Nick Foles returned as the starter and threw three interceptions, including one that Leon Hall returned 19 yards for a touchdown.
The last time the Saints didn’t score a touchdown was December 24, 2005 against Detroit and Brees’ last game without a touchdown pass came on November 29, 2012 against Atlanta.
At this point in our debate, you’d be wondering if I even saw Sunday’s game and somehow missed the reasons to be encouraged, from Wilson’s 345 passing yards and five TDs, including three to Doug Baldwin. He had a career-high 145 yards and three touchdowns and caught the decisive 80-yard touchdown with a tough catch on third-and-10.
Visiting Seattle for the first time in his career, Roethlisberger ignored the noise of the “12th Man” and put together the best passing performance ever against the Seahawks. His 456 yards topped the 455 of Philip Rivers in 2010, but that wasn’t enough for Pittsburgh to keep pace with Cincinnati in the AFC North.
Graham was hurt with 13:36 left in the fourth quarter after trying to grab a deep pass in the end zone from Russell Wilson.
Graham immediately signaled for trainers and was in significant discomfort on the ground. His leg was then quickly put into an air cast, and he was carted off the field.
Kam Chancellor’s controversial interception of Jones, who replaced Roethlisberger following Baldwin’s third touchdown, iced the game for the Seahawks. Roethlisberger scrambled from pressure and hit Wheaton behind Lane for a 69-yard score and a 27-26 lead with 11:40 remaining.
There will be a lot of talk about the insanely failed trick play and decision to kick a field goal down by 5 with 3:00 left in the game but the reality is that two atrocious turnovers that led to Seattle touchdowns was the difference in this game.
