Erykah Badu Disses Iggy Azalea At The Soul Train Awards

In the bit, meant to emphasize the fact that rap was “banned” from the Soul Train Awards, which are devoted to honoring R&B, Badu took a phone call, supposedly from the Australian rap star. Also, watch the Soul Cypher with Erykah Badu (ala DJ Low Down Loretta Brown) spinning and Chrisette Michele, K-Ci Hailey, Eddie Levert and Lalah Hathaway kicking vocals over Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones” on the flip.

In addition to her jazzy voice, Badu has been known for her sense of humor. “Iggy Azalea?” Erykah said on stage. “Iggy Azalea? Yeah, hey…no, no, no, you can’t come, because what you doing is definitely not rap!”
