Smith says Kobe Bryant should retire. Right now
Earlier this year, Curry broke the NBA’s three-pointer record by landing 286 in the regular season – surpassing his own record of 272.
Curry needed only three quarters to rack up 41 points, eight assists and six rebounds. This is the same Bryant who keeps talking about stepping back and deferring to the younger players.
The Sixers and coach Brett Brown have rookie Jahlil Okafor and, well, a bunch of future first-round picks and other assets that won’t help now while they wait for Joel Embiid to get healthy and for Dario Saric to leave Europe for the National Basketball Association.
“In all honesty, it was tough, the shots that I take, pullup shots and jumpers and contested jumpers – those are tough shots to hit at 27”, Bryant said Tuesday.
“I have to start out by saying the human side of me, so I’m in the locker room last night, watching the game, Van Gundy’s talking about the ’96 Bulls compared to this team”, Kerr said. Scott told the media a couple of days ago that Russell is now calling 90 percent of the plays on offense so he clearly has shown some improvement this season and warrants a minutes increase. “We are genuinely addicted to the feeling of winning”, said Curry. He continues to ask for patience.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith says it has gotten so bad that Bryant should just retire.
“I think your career is over”, said Russ Bengtson in his open letter to Bryant published in Complex Magazine. I dont know if im the only one who feels this way, but it looks like the Lakers have given up on Byron Scott and if they have, welcome to the club. To Scott and the Lakers, Bryant’s accomplishments in the past seem more important than what he’s able to do in the moment.
How do you coach a player that has played 20 seasons? “Draymond is a great defender and I have a lot of respect for him”. “It’s been tough. (But) My shooting will be better”. But the team’s problems go far deeper than his shooting, Bryant said.
“I’ve got faith in Kobe that he’ll be OK, but [Tuesday night] he was really struggling”, Scott said of Bryant.
Scott has been adamant that he won’t lessen Bryant’s minutes (30.5 per game, second-highest on the Lakers) nor would he change Bryant’s role (Bryant starts).
