Armored truck robbed outside Greektown Casino
A man took $500,000 from an armored truck outside of Detroit’s Greektown Casino this past weekend, according to a report from WLS-TV Detroit.
A Detroit thief armed with nothing more than a convincing costume stole over half a million dollars from an armored truck Friday – and is still on the run, police said.
The driver, thinking the man was a Loomis co-worker, opened the back of the van for the person wearing the Loomis uniform shirt and sunglasses.
The man then grabbed several bags of cash and walked off.
A police spokesperson told WWJ Newsradio 950 that there was no gun involved and no one was injured.
An FBI spokesperson confirmed their role in the investigation to MLive.com, but wouldn’t give any further information.
‘And at this point that’s the most important thing.
“The incident did not take place at our casino and did not involve funds going into or coming out of our property”, she said.
