Russell Wilson throws 5 TDs in Seahawks win over Steelers

Yes, his Sunday performance was a stirring example of why Seattle gave its franchise quarterback an $87.6 million contract extension this summer.

For the 11th time in 11 games, the Seahawks had a lead in the fourth quarter.

Ben Roethlisberger passed for 456 yards and showed why the Steelers, on their best day, are capable of putting a scare into Denver and New England on the AFC side of things.

The Seahawks lost Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham early in the fourth quarter, leaving his status for next week and beyond unclear. “This is an unbelievable win for us”.

“That’s insane”, said Carroll, who a couple of weeks ago was mildly critical of Wilson’s inconsistency. “The fire that they all brought”.

“All that stuff is going on behind me, guys”.

Chiefs 30, Bills 22: Alex Smith threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, Spencer Ware ran for 114 yards and a score, and the Chiefs won their fifth straight.

After a terrific game last week, Wilson seems to have caught fire. Wilson certainly shined very bright when the Seahawks needed it most against Pittsburgh, even while being sick.

The Seahawks improved to 6-5 and are above. The teams traded blows all day long, and neither one tackled particularly well, but it was a ridiculously fun game to watch, overall.

It was as seesawing and thrilling a game as Seattle’s hosted in years. Most of the CenturyLink Field record crowd of 69,055 noticed.

Coach Pete Carroll said after Seattle’s 39-30 victory that Graham will need surgery to fix the injury and will be out the rest of the season. He was undergoing concussion tests, although results weren’t immediately available.

The flag on Bennett extended Pittsburgh’s drive on third down. He took it down to the 3-yard line, making it fouth-and-goal with two timeouts left, but taking a big hit from Seahawks linebacker K.J. The receiver gained 80 yards on the play. They failed the 2-point conversion attempt and retook the lead 26-21.

But then Roethlisberger did what he’s best at: extending plays and rifling the ball deep.
