Carlo Ancelotti would return to Chelsea, but he doesn’t think he will
Chelsea won the Premier League in Fabregas’s first season, with the Spaniard providing 18 assists as he created 93 chances for Mourinho’s side.
Chelsea, to everyone’s delight, have been utterly atrocious all season and Mourinho finds himself under some serious pressure.
However, Ancelotti has been linked with taking over the managerial batten at Stamford Bridge and the Italian tactician did not deny his inclination to the Premier league and Chelsea in particular.
Cesc Fabregas needed just one word – one solitary syllable, in fact – to forensically deconstruct Chelsea’s naff start to the 2015/16 season. But when you know things aren’t going your way, you have to do even more.
“When you’re not winning everything is that much harder, but all of us – the players, fans and the coach – have to pull together and be tough”. It depends how you look at it, but I think so, yes. He is not so anxious.
“During the Dynamo Kiev game, the supporters were singing his name. He’ll sort it out”.
Despite this, Ancelotti – now without a club after parting ways with Real Madrid at the end of last season – would not be put off by a return to the London club, although he believes they are doing the right thing in standing by Mourinho.
Ancelotti also revealed he is keen on a return to English football, but said he was not contacted about the Liverpool job before Jürgen Klopp’s appointment.
“I know that the president tried to have him here instead of Benitez but Mourinho said he didn’t want it and and that it wasn’t the right time to come back. I have dignity and I had to defend myself”, the midfielder said.
“Real Madrid, there are more doubts over the way they will play”. If they can find an experienced player like Gerrard or Carragher – an example to the squad – I think they can be really competitive. But I did not speak with them. Jose says, “I’m here to win”.
