Fury crowned champion after beating Klitschko
Let him fight the next challenger.
“I’m fine with it. I don’t need Tyson Fury”.
Tyson Fury is happy to return to Germany and do it all over again if Wladimir Klitschko exercises a rematch clause after the Briton dethroned the veteran to become world heavyweight champion.
Peter Fury, however, insisted the British camp will have more say in the next encounter, suggesting that a fight in Britain – possibly at Wembley stadium – is high on their wishlist.
Fury now plans to spend time with his wife and young family over Christmas and new year and says he won’t think about his next opponent for several weeks. I know one of the first statements he made was: ‘I’m not fighting David Haye or Deontay Wilder’.
“God gave me the ability to do like I’ve done and I want him to thank him for that”.
– Sang a rather bad, off-key version of I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith to the crowd following the fight.
“Absolutely point-blank, I will say Haye will never get a chance after what he did to me”, said Fury.
“He played the right mind games before the fight and lots of physical games during the fight but where was Klitschko?”
He added: “All the hard work has been rewarded with these belts and to be able to put myself alongside legends and call myself the heavyweight champion of the world is the icing on the cake. If he gets mandatory for it, I will vacate”.
The new heavyweight champion of the world said he was unsure if the judges would go against the home favourite on the cards but revealed a surge of emotion as ring announcer Michael Buffer declared him the victor. I tried it, but it just did not happen.
Newly crowned heavyweight world boxing champion Tyson Fury arrives for a media day in Bolton, England, Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.
Fury returned to the country by auto in the early hours of this morning following his history points win over Klitschko in Dusseldorf over the weekend. I thought if I won, I won, if I lost, I lost. “Do I care? Not really”.
Klitschko managed to get close with a few good left jabs in the second round but Fury landed a powerful right, pushing the Ukrainian back.
Ideally, a fight of this magnitude, (and with so much on the lines for both men) you would’ve like to see the big fellows duke it out a bit more, much in the likes of the classic slugfest between Lennox and Vitali, the older of the two Klitschko brothers.
