Which Dortmund player should Klopp sign?
Liverpool need strengthening at the back and should Klopp look to the Westfalenstadion for reinforcements, Mats Hummels, who is a great admirer of the Liverpool manager, would be an obvious target.
“There is no agreement with Borussia Dortmund”.
“He will know three or four players in Germany who are on his wish-list and I think Liverpool are big enough to go and get any player in Germany apart from the ones at Bayern Munich”.
“There are so many mothers in the world that have brilliant sons, so you don’t always have to take the guys that everybody knows”. With the likes of Marco Reus, Neven Subotic and Ilkay Gündogan constantly linked with moves to Merseyside, there’s speculation that Klopp has a gentleman’s agreement with the Bundesliga club not to move for his former players – something he’s since denied.
The deal to take both players to Liverpool would reportedly cost the Reds a whopping £56m ($84m), which of course is a lot of money but not when you consider the impact these players would have on Klopp’s squad.
“I didn’t ask [the owners], I’m sure we could [do something]”. But there is no agreement that we can’t do business with Dortmund.
“I have a good relationship with Borussia Dortmund and a good relationship with all the players there – there is nothing negative between us”. We only want to do something if we feel it is necessary or there is an opportunity where we can not say no. Or our situation changes in a way where we have to take players in. “If there was a possibility and we needed a player, we could try but at the moment there is no agreement to buy anyone from Borussia Dortmund or to sell to them”.
