Griffin powers Clippers to win

Wiggins went over 20 points scored for the second straight game and ten out of the last twelve contests.
Forward Andrew Wiggins scored 21 points, guard Zack LaVine added 18 points and seven assists and centre Karl-Anthony Towns registered 17 points and eight rebounds for Minnesota (8-9), who had their season-high three game winning streak snapped.
Ricky Rubio sat out his second straight game due to soreness in the ankle that was surgically repaired last season. The Timberwolves then began intentionally fouling DeAndre Jordan in a desperation move and managed to dwindle the Clippers’ lead down to six.
A turnaround jumper by forward Gorgui Dieng sliced the gap to 101-95 with 1:10 left, but Minnesota got no closer.

Los Angeles dropped four of five and was down on itself after a 102-91 home loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday but bounced back with one of its better performances in a 111-90 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. During crunch time, one would think that it would be wise to play the team’s third best player when the game is on the line. The Clippers uppped that lead to as many as 16 before settling for a 48-37 lead at the halftime break. The Timberwolves made just 30.8 percent of their shots the first quarter before managing 34.9 percent in the half.
“We are winning games”, Paul said, when asked if the Clippers are improving. But the Clippers answered back with an 8-0 run to bring the lead back to 13 points and Minnesota couldn’t overcome that deficit. “This is a league where you have to win. It is not always going to be pretty, but we have to pile up wins, especially in the Western Conference”.
Head coach Doc Rivers started Luc Mbah a Moute for the first time this season, marking the eighth different starting lineup this season for the Clippers, and Rivers chose to keep him in with the starters down the stretch.
“So something had to give and the turning point in this one came early, when Minnesota”s Kevin Garnett left the court after drawing his third foul less than seven minutes into the game.
Redick topped 6,000 career points with a bucket in the second quarter.
