Donald Trump Cancels Press Conference With 100 Black Pastors
The Daily Mail reported this morning that Donald Trump believes Black Lives Matter may have had a hand in a group of African-American pastors pulling their supposed endorsement of him for the US presidency.
The Rev. Jamal H. Bryant, pastor of Northwest Baltimore’s Empowerment Temple church, turned down an invitation to meet with Trump and took to social media to speak out against the meeting.
In the exchange, Trump told Todd, “I have a very good memory, Chuck”.

In an interview on MSNBC, Trump said that the meeting was actually initiated by the group of black pastors. “I have fantastic relationships with the people, but I think pressure was put on them when they heard there was a meeting by people who disagree”.

Scott said more than 100 preachers from across the country attended the meeting, despite criticism in an open letter in Ebony magazine from more than 100 black religious leaders.
In recent weeks, Trump has praised his supporters for physically assaulting an African-American protester, and shared crime statistics prepared by neo-Nazis, which drastically exaggerated the rate at which African-Americans murder whites.
Trump’s comments came after Christie said that no Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating after 9/11 as Trump had claimed.
CNN reports that several black pastors invited to the event backed out when it was originally scheduled for Sunday.
