Freezing rain, snow still a possibility; winter storm watch issued
Winter Storm Warnings are issued when you are expecting either a quarter of an inch of ice accumulation or 4 inches snow in 12 hours or 5 inches snow in 24 hours.
Weather conditions will likely make driving hard, with downpours reducing visibility, in addition to the threat of icy roads. The same area is included in a winter storm watch from 6 p.m. Thursday to noon Saturday.
As shower move over this very cold air-mass, a significant winter weather event will materialize over the KCBD Viewing Area.
Snow accumulations of three to five inches are possible. The greatest thing to be grateful for this Thanksgiving could be that everyone arrives at their holiday destinations safe and sound.
Eventually this afternoon, the freezing line will shift to the northwest and all precipitation should be plain rain for the Oklahoma City metro.
Those traveling in the Midwest this weekend are advised to be wary.
Forecasters say a band of storms moving slowly through the nation’s midsection is leaving Texas but will likely dump more freezing rain on parts of Oklahoma and Kansas.
