Carey Price out for at least next six weeks
Price has been dealing with the injury for weeks.
Carey Price will be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a lower-body injury, according to the Canadiens.
Price won nearly every individual award imaginable last season, and started off extremely strong this season as well.
If the Montreal Canadiens are going to continue their winning ways, they’re going to do so without the services of Hart and Vezina Trophy-winning, All World netminder Carey Price.
Price, who was originally injured October 29 in a 4-3 loss at the Edmonton Oilers, will not require surgery. He filled in as Mike Condon’s backup the next night in Calgary, as Dale Weise led the Habs to a 6-2 win over the Flames. In 14 games backstopping the league-leading Habs, Condon has a. 916 save percentage and a 2.19 goals against average. He re-aggravated his knee November 25 in a contest against the New York Rangers that took him out of the game in the second frame. Condon is a rookie goaltender, and though he has posted a tremendous record so far this year, he allowed at least three goals in four straight games before Price returned against the Islanders.
Assuming the current timeline is accurate, Price should return sometime in mid to late January – plenty of time to leave his mark on the Canadiens’ season and, presumably, lead them in the playoffs. He hasn’t been as good in his most recent appearances, but the Canadiens have still been able to put together an 8-2-3 record in Price’s absence.
