Local Muslim leaders react to Paris attacks

Muslims are condemning attacks that ISIS launched on Paris soil last Friday night. In all, 26 mosques and Muslim associations signed a statement condemning the terrorist attacks.
Each one of them is seen with their heads down in grief, holding placards that read “We are and forever will be united”. They don’t understand what the terrorists of ISIS have done is not what the Muslim religion is all about.
– In a suburb of Austin, Texas, leaders of the Islamic Center of Pflugerville on Monday discovered feces and torn pages of the Quran that had been thrown at the door of the mosque. “My message to Muslims in the entire world is to teach their kids what is Islam, and what is Islam about”. They go on to say that “it is easy to blame the refugees” in Europe for the attacks, but they are also “running away from the same people carrying out these attacks”. He said this is a significant number in terms of threat, but a very minimal number when it comes to defining the beliefs of other Muslims.
It’s important for us to always differentiate between the intentions of Muslim followers and Muslim extremists, who use false exaggerations of this religion to justify their actions. Kenney tells us, “We certainly have Homeland Security here in Philadelphia, we have an office here who collaborates with our police, with state police and with our local police”. Extremist group Isis has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Nihad Awad, national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, asked law enforcement officials to step up patrols at mosques and other Islamic institutions.
A separate image of a Muslim man standing on a French flag with his fist raised in the air has also been doing the rounds on social media over the past few days.
“I’m hoping all the communities would like to do something, once we know what is happening”, she said. “We all need to work together”. “It has become a force that nobody of this world in their right mind will say they are right”.
They also acknowledged they are working to prevent the younger members of their community from finding radical groups like ISIS attractive alternatives.
